Happy to be a Mom!

I love this thought from President David O. McKay

"She, who can paint a masterpiece or write a book that will influence millions -- deserves the admiration and the plaudits of man. But she who rears a family of beautiful sons and daughters, whose influence will be felt through generations to come, long after paintings have faded, and books have been destroyed she deserves the highest honor that man can give, and the choicest blessings of God. In her high duty and service to humanity, she is co-partner with the Creator himself."

Singapore!

SINGAPORE, SINGAPORE, SINGAPORE

At the end of Devin's trip to Hong Kong I flew over and met him in Singapore. Thanks soooo much to my mom and Katie for watching the kiddos! Our trip was so fun, we were their for 4 days (I was gone for 7 with all the flights- 23 hours in a plane on counting the layovers- we'll take a slightly shorter one with kids- I hope)

On Sunday we had lunch with one family and dinner with another family after going to church. And then Monday we spent time talking to members of the ward. We learned soo much from all of them. It was super helpful on deciding what area we want to live.

We also got to spend some great quality time together- 5 years married whoo hoo. And still just as in love as the first year.

Over all we were pleased about where we are going. I have to say it was a bit of a emotional roller coaster each day learning about this country. I was surprised to find that the culture shock was not from being in a foreign country but of being in a HUGE city and living in the middle of it.

We learned how very expensive things are. We wanted to live in a 3 bedroom apartment close to Devin's work, but the rent for that is like $4,500 a month in sane!. So he'll have about a 30 min commute and our rent will be about half- still ridiculous. A snickers bar was $2.50, milk was like $6.00 a gallon for nice Australia milk. Our salary won't go quite as far as we hoped, but I'm sure we will still be comfortable.
Here we are eating Chinese food, these noodles were huge. We ate at this restaurant by an apartment we are thinking about living in.

We got to go see Devin's building and meet the Lawyers, they took us out to lunch. Devin's Building is amazing, it is all marble and beautiful! I can't believe he will be working here
here is the actual office on the 22nd floor. You can see the name on the door O'Melveny and Myers. It is part of the main sky line of Singapore
Here is the outside, it has the lights on the top.
On our last night we went on a river boat ride, very romantic.
I fit right into Singapore with my knock-off Louis Vuitton from Hong Kong. Every other person had one.
Dinner was awesome, clams and linguine on our night out.
We saw the Lion King one night The costumes where AMAZING!
Marina Sands a huge conference center with a Yacht-deck on top that has a swimming pool. This is where the Lion King was at.
This was our fancy night out on the town. You can see Devin's Building in the back ground it has the lights on the top and is right in the center on the left side of me

Little India, All of this is Silk and Lace that is like $100.00 a yard. It was gorgeous.

Devin wanted to buy this hat so he could where it for finals, he has worn a crazy hat for every final in Law School.
The China town market, notice the chinese lanterns
China Town and the cool Hindu Temple
Here is the Singapore river that glides all the way around the down town area.
Sentosa in the background a beach resort with beaches and Universal Studios.
Look how lush and green everything is, similar to Hawaii with an asian feel
This is Sentosa beach Resort it is beautiful except for those random huge ships in the background.
Sexy Mama!

Cool bridge by the beach
Hmm, funny considering Singapore is actually an island (and Sentosa is a further island off the coast of Singapore, so two islands removed from the mainland of Asia)

In a wet market where they sell food outside
Jane, who is our good friend Martha's cousin, lives in Singapore and has been writing me, they had us over for dinner with the missionaries it was awesome!
