Happy to be a Mom!

I love this thought from President David O. McKay

"She, who can paint a masterpiece or write a book that will influence millions -- deserves the admiration and the plaudits of man. But she who rears a family of beautiful sons and daughters, whose influence will be felt through generations to come, long after paintings have faded, and books have been destroyed she deserves the highest honor that man can give, and the choicest blessings of God. In her high duty and service to humanity, she is co-partner with the Creator himself."

A Day That Will Live in Infamy

Well it has finally happened.
We knew the day would one day come.
We've been waiting for it, we just didn't think it would be today.

Today Spencer learned a new word:

no-no-no-no-no-no-no-no!

Family Picture

Wagstaff Family Photo

Here is the long awaited for Family Picture of the Wagstaff's. From Top to Bottom Grandpa, Nana, Amanda, Chad, Devin, Naomi, Jessica, Jerrin, Spencer, Macie, and Eli.

Well we couldn't get any of the kids to smile but all of us adults look good so what can you say.

Chicago

Last Weekend we left super early to make the trek to the Temple. It is about a 2 hour drive without traffic We got super lucky and didn't hit any! We left at 5;45 Chicago Time and made it for the 8:00 session.

After we went and saw one of Devin's Law School Friends, we hung out with them and went to lunch. Spencer got lucky when Tiffany's little boy got us an invite to an amazing birthday party he was going to. They went all out with a bounce house and a balloon man, not to mention amazing costco food.

Small Blessings

The missionaries came over for dinner tonight, I was trying all week to figure out a good meal to fix them without actually going to the store.

(I try really hard to only go every two weeks, this has been an amazing strategy to help me stay in my budget, and we are nearing the end of our two weeks, so of course the pantry is bare).

I honeslty could not make any of the 3 decent meals I came up with without going to the store. And then I found my milk was going bad, any body have a good recipe that takes a lot of milk, I have almost a gallon of milk that will be bad if not used immedietly. So point is, going to the store today was required.

Spencer and I went to the store, and this was the big trip of the month, we were out of everything.

1st blessing- Spencer did not cry once, did not climb out of the stroller once, and made it through the entire grocery line happy (of course fruit snacks and grapes were being bribed), but still the last time we went he cried at least half of time, so huge improvement.

2nd blessing my total grocery bill came to $40.00 less than I expected it to. I mean I even bought diapers and everything. The immediate thought came to my mind, you are feeding the missionaries tonight, chalk it up as a blessing for feeding the Lord's annointed.

Sometimes I have a hard time seeing the hand of the Lord work in my life. So these moments when I can feel the spirit and see something specific I feel blessed. So weather everything was just on sale or maybe I really didn't buy as much as I thought, I think I will give the credit where its due and say a thank you to my Heavenly Father.

Moral of the story: Feed the missionaries and your grocery budget will be less, or you will be blessed in mysterious ways :).

How did the Lord work in your life today?

The Notre Dame Game

So Notre Dame has two religions Catholicism adn Football. These games are insane. On Saturday we did football all day long. First we got up early and went to the Football Collage Hall of Fame. Which was an awesome museum.

Here is Spencer sporting his football wardrobe from Grandma and Granpa. Number 7 is the quaterback Jimmy Clausen

Here he Katie and Me by the entrance
At the Game. Look at this stadium it holds 80 thousand people, BYU holds 65 thousand. Notre Dame games have been completley sold out for over 200 games. It was incredible.
And Notre Dame won!!!!. We also watched the BYU game that night Go Cougars! And last Thursday the Uof U won their game. So all the teams that we have been apart of are all on a winning streak!!! Go Football.

Chicago and Family

Naomi's parents and sister Katie came on Thursday to spend labor day weekend with us and go to the first Notre Dame Game. Naomi and Spencer picked them up from the airport and then we spent the day in Chicago.

We walked around Navy Pier and got yummy ice cream
Spencer found these lights that looked like balls, he thought that was cool.

We tried the "Deep Dish Chicago Pizza" at Gino's
We walked the magnificent mile and saw lots of funny statues
This is the Chicago River with the Chicago Tribune in the background
Spencer kept pointing to every bus and saying "Wow Buuu buuu"
Here is the Frank Geary Jazz Theater at Mellenium Park

Rainy Days

It rained for four days straight here in South Bend, so we had to come up with some fun activities. First we built a fort with four chairs and a blanket. Which Spencer really liked. However he found another use for it as well. I was sitting under the fort when I saw his little legs climb up onto the bench and go head first into the blanket onto my lap. Boy did the fort just become so much more exciting. He continued to do this about 10 more times.

Spencer also helped me make french bread for dinner.
